What’s on the record
The batch record is what happens on the plant side of every load — the batcher’s log of what actually went into the mix vs. what the mix design called for. This template covers the fields most small plants use:
- Load header — batch number, date, time, customer, job, ticket number, mix design ID, ordered yardage, batcher.
- Target vs. actual scale weights per material — cement, fly ash / SCMs, sand, coarse aggregate (per size), water. One row per material with a design target, actual weight from the scale, and the signed variance.
- Aggregate moisture — free-moisture percent for each aggregate, with the space to record the corrected batch-water figure.
- Water accounting — mix-design water, water in aggregates, batched water, and the total mix water actually delivered.
- QC checks — slump, air percent, concrete temperature, ambient temperature, cylinders cast (yes/no).
- Admixtures — one row per admixture with target dose, actual dose, and unit.
- Batcher certification + signature.
PDF vs. Excel
The PDF is set up for print-and-write in the batch house — clipboard-friendly layout, big cells for the pencil.
The Excel version calculates variance automatically (actual − target, percent, out-of-tolerance flag), keeps the water math consistent, and can be filled in on a tablet. Handy if you want a typed record without changing your batching workflow.
